State Beauty Supply Presents

The L.E.G.A.C.Y. Project

Vision & Theory:

Don’t just build a business…build a legacy.  In a world and industry that is constantly changing and evolving, we sometimes need to sit and hit the pause button in recognizing the importance of having a true alignment between personal and professional development.

Premise:

As our industry continues to evolve…you have to ask yourself and your team, are you change ready?  Recognizing that your brand is your greatest asset…how do you continue to drive it from your own development?  Are you offering your team the personal and professional development that they need to succeed?  Are you engaging them and rolling out a true blueprint for success in developing both their personal and professional goals?

Problem:

Don’t buy into the excuse of what’s broke and why “that doesn’t work here” or “that doesn’t work for our industry”.  Staying the course with your business plan is always encouraged, but to often we can get derailed and bogged down with the the “self talk” and “outside noise”.  Yes, we are exposed to some incredible speakers and programs that provide us that shot of adrenaline, but what plan of action and curriculum to we roll out for you and your team to stay engaged and act on what you were taught to take back to your team?

Solution:

What if your company would be able to tap into a resource that has never been provided by our industry on building a vision or continuing to enhance it, leadership, guest handling & overall experience and being fearless on taking your company to the next level.   At the end of the day, we must continue to look for outlets to drive our business and our teams to new heights and most importantly, seek to see it through a new set of lenses.  Be part of a 4-part series from some of the most sought-after speakers that are outside of our industry to take your business and team to new heights.

Please watch the short recap video from Session 1 of our project. If you were unable to make the first one, we would encourage you to join us moving forward.

John O’Leary shared his story with us and helped to relate it to our industry and how we can make a difference. We can make an impact not only in our professional lives, but also our personal lives.

MEET JOHN O’LEARY

In 1987, John O’Leary was a curious nine-year-old boy. Playing with fire and gasoline, John created a massive explosion in his home and was burned on 100% of his body. He was given a 1% chance to live.

He spent five months in the hospital, underwent dozens of surgeries, lost all of his fingers to amputation and he had to relearn to walk, write, and feed himself. He endured, persevered, and survived – largely because others emerged, served and inspired. He now lives to share the life-giving lessons from his story in hope that he can Spark! the extraordinary possibility of your story.

He shares these lessons as a tribute to those who leapt into the flames to save him. These individuals worked tirelessly to restore him. They pushed him to write though he no longer had fingers. They were there to hold him close when the days were dark and the nights scary. He shares these lessons as an invitation for you to choose to wake up to the fullness of your life, to embrace the amazing gift of each moment, and to celebrate the joy of your inspired life!

MEET TRAVIS THOMAS

Purpose: High-performance is grounded in a foundation of individual and collective purpose. Individuals need to have a clear and shared purpose for why the organization exists = their purpose! AND…every individual needs to have a clear idea of what is most important to them as well = their purpose!

People: Companies are made of people. The culture is the byproduct of the beliefs and behaviors intentionally and unintentionally practiced. Cultures that cultivate an environment of trust, respect, and value allow people to feel safe and express their authenticity. When people are safe they bring their full authenticity and engagement to work. Now you have a motivated team!

Collaboration: People will not collaborate unless they feel safe. So, once there is clear purpose, combined with a safe culture, collaboration is the natural result. Collaborative environments are not about agreement, but rather having a culture where people feel so safe and trusted that they can share and receive feedback openly and honestly. It is the diversity of ideas authentically shared by the team that leads to high-performance creativity and innovation.
